Podcast #88 | George Dallas and Mike Lubrano: Governance, Stewardship & Sustainability.

In episode #88 of the Boardroom Governance Podcast,, Evan Epstein talks with George Dallas, head of content at the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) and Mike Lubrano, Managing Director of Valoris Stewardship Catalysts.

In this podcast, they talk about George and Mike’s book “Governance, Stewardship and Sustainability” and how they define and think about stewardship, sustainability and ESG. They discuss methodologies, evidence and other related matters including the Volkswagen Dieselgate case study.

They also talk about the course (of the same name) that they co-teach at the International Corporate Governance Network. They highlight some corporate governance distinctions from the UK, Europe and Latin America, including matters such as cross-listings, ADRs, activism and engagement between controlling shareholders and minority investors.

Finally, they address the "anti-ESG" trend, the politicization of governance in the US, and large asset managers passing-through voting power to beneficial owners.

You can listen to the episode directly in the Boardroom Governance Podcast website (where you can find all the show notes), or wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts such as in: Apple, Spotify, Google, Amazon or Stitcher.
